Welcome Parents of Gifted Children!
Since you’re visiting the NJAGC web-site I can assume you’ve already entered the adventure of parenting a gifted child. Perhaps you have questions concerning the identification process, characteristics of giftedness, social and emotional development, or how to best support the needs of your gifted child at any age--from toddler to college and beyond. Gifted children are complex, sensitive, mind boggling, and, yes, sometimes even difficult. As a gifted parent you may feel isolated, intimidated, or a little overwhelmed. My role as Parent Chair, and as a parent of gifted children myself, is to offer you support through the benefit of our experience and a network of others in the same boat as you navigate your journey.
Over the years NJAGC membership has enabled me to utilize the varied resources available to members. Working with individuals, educators, professional and community members, devoted to the education of gifted students and passionate about ensuring their successful educational experiences, has been fascinating and wonderful.
What I've learned is that the parents of gifted children need someone to turn to who shares their experiences. One recommendation for communicating with the gifted "community" is to participate in our Forums (http://www.njagc.org/forums). There you can post your questions and share experiences/anecdotes with others who “get it”. Your e-mail, name and information is private and never sold. You can also e-mail me directly at

. I will do my very best to help.
I encourage you to get involved by joining NJAGC at http://www.njagc.org. Your membership helps us support gifted children throughout the State with scholarships, advocacy, and conferences. Remember, you are your child's first, most important teacher and number one advocate!
I look forward to hearing from you!
